My name is Rajiv Chopra, and this publication is about life, our planet and photography.
During the course of my adult life there are a few issues that have come to occupy me, and this is what this publication is now about.
1. Climate change, environmental degradation, extinction.
2. Inequality, and the growing divide amongst people
3. Human stupidity, and our unwillingness to think.
I graduated from The Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur, India. After working for three years, I then did my MBA from the Indian Institute of Management at Bangalore, India. Then, I worked for another quarter of a century in the corporate world. By the time my bosses booted me out, I was President of the Indian operations of a large Dutch multinational company. Probably, they thought I was too iconoclastic. An American friend congratulated me on being kicked out, saying I was too independent and creative for the corporate world!
However, this did not help my confidence at the time, and it took me almost a decade to acknowledge my life's direction had turned. So, I stopped calling myself a business consultant. In January 2022, I decided to wear my new garb with all my heart, and call myself a photographer, storyteller and coach.
I started photography many years ago, with my Olympus OM-2n. Since I could not afford to travel to exotic locations, I focussed on street and travel photography. I am, today, a street, travel and landscape photographer.
For my street work, I use my Fujifilm X-T4, which I adore. I am looking for a good compact camera and it is difficult to choose!
For landscape and portrait work, I use the Nikon D810. I use the Nikon D200 for digital pinhole, and I have an assortment of analog cameras.
Why should you follow me? I intend to give you my own unique perspective on life, our planet and photography. Photography is much more than pressing the shutter button. It is about life.
